"The team at Nob Hill Aesthetics has worked miracles over the years for my skin! With their care I have been able to literally turn back time. My deep smile lines that I hated have basically vanished. My skin glows, and looks better than when I started coming here 7 years ago! The best part is that they use techniques that work with your body to rejuvenate and jump start your skin so it looks very natural and healthy. I have been other places where they keep pushing more and more things like fillers and don’t care if their patients look “over done”. Not here! They will not hesitate to let you know if a certain procedure is too much for what you need.

I also love that there is an MD, the wonderful Dr B, running the office. He knows his stuff and is so incredibly knowledgeable. All of the staff is professional, full of knowledge and welcoming. I can’t say enough good things about the services they provide here!"

Lindsay L.

"The moment I walked into Nob Hill Aesthetics, I was welcomed with warm and inviting energy. Dr. Konstantin Bukov administered my xeomin (like Botox) and lip filler treatments. He was very informative and heard what the client wants while adding his expertise when indicated.

My forehead is snatched perfectly and I look like my 25 year old self and my lips are aaaaaaaamazing. I just wanted a little volume and to accentuate my lip structure and he implemented it perfectly. I had a concern that day after (bruising) and Moon (the humble beautiful owner& MD) went above and beyond to squeeze me into their tight schedule to see Dr. Bukov to discuss my concern. He was so kind, patient and thorough. He ensured me that if I had any other concerns (since I was going out of town) that he was always reachable via his cell.

This was my first time going to Nob Hill Aesthetics and I will only be going to them for my beauty needs. They’ve gained a client for life <3 Thank you Nob Hill Aesthetics!!!!"

"I am so happy with my cheek and lip fillers from Maddie!! 100% recommend!!!"

Jacqulynn O.

"Love Dr. B and his staff and have been going for over 6 years. I have never had a bad experience and feel the Dr. and his staff care about the patients. It isn’t just a factory for Injections like some places are. I have had fillers there as well and am extremely pleased with the results. I feel the price point is fair and they have deals sometimes. If you are looking for a cosmetic spa look no further than Nob Hill Aesthetics"

Lisa M.

"I love Nob Hill! The staff are friendly, professional, and know how to create a comfortable environment for all of your needs. My pre and post experience with Botox and Fillers was always smooth and the results go beyond my expectations! Highly recommend :)"

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

When hyaluronic acid fillers are injected into the skin, the dermal filler attracts more water leading to appearance and property of more naturally plump skin.

While HA Dermal Fillers work by filling in areas of volume loss, plump fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance certain areas of the face, Botox freezes the underlying muscle so that fine lines and wrinkles can’t be formed, and thus there’s nothing necessary to fill.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Our Dermal Fillers here at Nob Hill Aesthetics are HA (Hyaluronic Acid) based and FDA approved. Our list of HA fillers include:

Juvéderm products: Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE

Restylane products: Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Contour

Over 1 million people annually get Dermal Filler injections and it is the 2nd most popular nonsurgical aesthetic procedure! In addition, Dermal Fillers carry temporary effects and pose fewer risks as they naturally dissolve in the body over time. These are also reversible, but there are still risks of possibly encountering rare side effects.

What precautions should be taken before, during, and after my Dermal Filler Appointment?

Before the Appointment

  1. Medical History Review - Disclose your full medical history with our providers including any allergies, skin conditions, previous cosmetic procedures, and medications or supplements you're taking
  2. Avoid Certain Medications - At least a week before your appointment, avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements (e.g., vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo biloba) to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding.
  3. Skincare Preparations - Avoid using retinol-based products, chemical peels, or laser treatments a few days before the procedure to prevent skin irritation.
  4. Stay Hydrated - Good hydration can aid in recovery, but avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before the appointment as it can increase bruising.
  5. Eat a Healthy Meal - Have a light meal before your appointment to prevent feeling lightheaded during the procedure.
  6. Plan for Downtime - While most people can return to normal activities right away, plan for potential downtime if you develop bruising or swelling.
  7. Inform Your Nob Hill Aesthetics Provider About Cold Sores - If you have a history of cold sores, especially around the mouth, inform your practitioner, as injections can trigger an outbreak.

During the Appointment

  1. Communicate Expectations - Discuss with your Nob Hill Aesthetics provider regarding your goals and expectations!
  2. Skip Makeup - We advise against applying makeup for up to 12 hours after the treatment.

After the Appointment

  1. Ice Packs - Applying ice to the treated area can help reduce swelling.
  2. Avoid Strenuous Activities - It's usually advised to avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising.
  3. Stay Upright - You might be told to avoid lying down for a few hours after the injections, especially facial fillers, to prevent the filler from shifting.
  4. Avoid Heat - Stay out of direct sunlight, saunas, and avoid hot environments to reduce the risk of swelling.
  5. Alcohol - It's typically recommended to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours as it can exacerbate swelling and bruising.

Over the First Week

  1. Swelling Subsides - Any swelling and bruising should start to diminish and should typically resolve within a week or two.
  2. Avoid Certain Facial Treatments - You may be advised to avoid facials, massages, or other treatments that apply pressure to the face for a couple of weeks.
  3. Follow-up Appointment - Sometimes a follow-up appointment is necessary to check on the progress or to add more filler if needed.
  4. Gradual Improvements - The appearance of the treated area will continue to improve over the first week as swelling goes down and the filler settles into place.

*Remember, individual experiences can vary, so it's crucial to have open communication with your provider both before and after the treatment to ensure the best outcome and address any concerns you might have.

What is the downside to Dermal Fillers?

While Dermal Fillers are considered a very safe and effective treatment for volume restoration, lip enhancement, contouring, and other benefits, there are some potential downsides to consider:

  1. Temporary Results: While, Dermal Fillers provide immediate effects, on the other hand the effects of dermal fillers often last 6 months to a year and will depend on a number of factors like smoking, sun exposure, aging, and treatment area.
  2. Side Effects: While severe complications are highly unlikely, there is still a possibility that in rare cases, vascular occlusion, delayed onset nodules, and filler migration may result.
  3. Discomfort: Some people might experience a little discomfort during and after the injection, but we try to prevent as much discomfort as possible with numbing prior to the treatment!
  4. Post-Treatment Downtime: After the treatment, it is recommended to avoid strenuous physical exercise for a couple of days as well as sun exposure.
  5. Not Suitable for Everyone: People smoke, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history or higher risk of having an allergic reaction are not suitable candidates for Dermal Fillers
  6. Unpredictable Results: We can never guarantee that you will always enjoy your results as undergoing any elective aesthetic procedures always carry that risk! We will always be upfront with any risks or concerns and if you ever feel uncomfortable please let us know!

Personalization

Am I a good candidate for Dermal Fillers

A good candidate for dermal fillers generally includes individuals who:

  1. Are in Good Health - Candidates should not have active skin infections, severe allergies, or certain medical conditions that could affect healing or increase the risk of complications.
  2. Limit Smoking - Smoking can impair healing and affect how your treatment results last.
  3. Are Not Pregnant or Breastfeeding - The effects of dermal fillers have not been studied extensively in pregnant or breastfeeding women, so they are generally advised to avoid these treatments.
  4. Not Allergic to Filler Components - Patients must not have allergies to any components of the filler.
  5. Have Mild to Moderate Signs of Aging - While dermal fillers can be beneficial for deep wrinkles and folds, they are often most effective on mild to moderate lines. Deeper signs of aging often require our more extensive procedures like Halo and Morpheus8.
  6. Are Not Seeking Permanent Solutions - Dermal fillers are temporary and typically last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's metabolism.
  7. Do Not Have a History of Severe Allergic Reactions - Particularly to any ingredients used in the filler or local anesthetic.

It is best to be cleared by our Dermal Filler providers here at Nob Hill Aesthetics before any Filler injections in order to ensure you experience the greatest comfort and achieve the best results!
